The GOP needs Trump more than Trump needs the GOP. As bad as Trump's image is, the fact remains that the GOP's image is far worse.
They got in bed with him, however unwillingly at first, so they own the bedbugs, lice and STDs.
With the possible upside for him that the coup is successful. Game over.
