    1/5 Indictment for firing Comey was always improbable. As Rosenstein correctly concluded, Comey should have been fired for his conduct in Hillary email case. Trump's admission that his real reason was to protect himself would certainly help to prove "corrupt" intent...

    Ha! I usually ignore the comment myself because you know exactly who you are dealing with. They're the same people who think the IRS and the SEC are unconstitutional. But people feel better when they know how to answer.

    This distinction is like a huge advert--highlighted, underlined & put on all the front end caps of shelves--that a person is dumb. I mean this neutrally, w/out animosity. When pple say this to me (I'm a soc stdies teacher, so people say this to me) I just make a mental checkmark.

    In fact, firing Comey led to the appointment of Mueller, so the investigation actually intensified. Trump may have thought he was protecting himself, but he only made things worse for himself. That makes it a pretty tough obstruction case.

    There's a related legal issue re: Comey - to be obstruction, firing him must have the "natural and probable effect" of impeding the investigation. More likely when you fire the director is a new one is appointed and the investigation proceeds - which is exactly what happened.

    5/5 Technically, that certainly can be a crime. But to convince a unanimous jury of that beyond a reasonable doubt? Where the defendant is a former President of the United States? At this late stage, DOJ isn't going there.

    Isn't "we should have an attack dog as AG" something Trump would say? Maybe (hear me out) people got so used to Trump-style politics that they're continuing Trump-style and that might turn off people who don't like Trump-style politics.

    Okay thinking more about whether this: 🔥sells. Stoking fear is the Fox model, but Fox stokes fear against the liberals. Much of the simplifications I'm talking about in the video (and blog post) stoke anger at the Democrats and the "system." Maybe that's why . . .
