Well, I'm sure that GPA, based on tests written and scored by teachers who need to please supervisors, will be a far superior measure of student performance, preparation, and potential.

GPA is a cumulative measurement of all the classes a student would take over 4 years period, covering a variety of subjects. Its a much much larger sample size thus a much better representative data.

1. worried that schools will inflate grades that would've been exposed with testing; 2. statistical evidence from faculty that tests do have predictive power seems to have been ignored; 3. also no letters of rec which could've checked over-claims on extracurriculars.

Grades are compared with peers. A students grades are compared mostly with the other students in his or her district or school, because its impossible to have grades measured on the same scale in different states across america.

Test scores could be used to identify underprivileged youth who could excel in the UC's with summer bridge & math boot camps for them before the freshman year starts. This is how we used to do it. Also for those who don't test well there's already a path through CC's.
