A cable cut caused by an unknown party between Orange & Bowral in NSW at 2:05am today (Fri 4 May) caused intermittent mobile voice connection interruptions in NSW, Victoria, South Australia & Queensland.

Routers impacted by the cable cut were restored about 4:50am today and services progressively returned to normal. A fibre repair crew has been dispatched.

Update: There are still intermittent interruptions to 000 calls in NSW, VIC & WA following the cable cut in NSW earlier today. We're working closely with emergency services in those States.

Update: fibre repair crew on site at cable pit east of Orange. Significant fire damage consistent with lightning strike. We're working to restore services ASAP and are sorry for service interruptions. Current impact mostly in NSW & some interruptions in VIC, SA & WA.
Update: The restoration of the cable in NSW has been completed. E000 services are returning to normal. We're working with emergency services and our government and enterprise customers to manage any residual issues. We're deeply sorry for the interruptions.

It’s affecting my mobile service. Can’t make phone calls. I wouldn’t ordinarily care, but needed to phone the bank to obtain money required... can’t do that now.
So what you're saying is 000 emergency services don't have geographic redundancy for their phone lines? I assume they'd have exchange level redundancy, should be geographic as well, that's on Telstra

Time to get your 💩 together ... what happens inn one state should not affect others.. This sort of issue has happened numerous times now... I ditched my Telstra mobile for years ago.. seems like it was a good choice...
