Well, usually yes, but some things 'should' believed at face-value. When the damage of doubting > the benefit of believing, it creates those situations. I think allegations of extreme sexual abuse/violence is one of those.

As an extreme example, it's why Swatting is so consistent, the teams HAVE to believe it when someone calls because the cost of being cynical is far worse than just giving the benefit of the doubt. We make judgements like this every day even with petty things.

The repercussions of a swat call are normally life or death. Being skeptical of an allegation SHOULD be common sense. If they can’t prove it, they’re doing themselves and the community a disservice by not handling private business privately.

That's why I said an extreme example. I don't think ppl should blindly believe to the point of sending death threats or banning him or other lasting consequences preemptively, but you cant call people dumb asses if they trust her and caution around GQ until otherwise.
