Yeah it’s a good set up. He doesn’t edit the conversations and genuinely wants to have a discussion with people. It’s not an argument per say.

Sometimes he kinda picks easy people to argue with seemingly deliberately to make it easier to 'beat' them. Could be wrong of course, also he'll trying to distract from the argument if he realizes he's losing.
