Ok great. Next question. Let's say you are at a tournament (my tournament). I'm responsible for random people coming in and playing and having a good time, and I can't do that if you say certain things. It's not a very long list. And if you say those things, now what?

If you say those things and it’s a rule not to say them then you apply the rules. You don’t tell them they’re homophobic or force your ideology

Well there's no problem if you're down to abide by the rules of the space. All I was saying in the original tweet was that the reason behind the rule is that saying certain kinds of things makes some people feel unsafe (and I happen to care about those people)

You went on to tell him how bad using the word in general is based on your own personal biases. This is an ideological statement rather than just abiding rules for the sake of everyone.

It's bad if you don't want anyone to question your intent (which is important to me for whatever reason). If you don't mind people questioning your intent, then it's not bad. Separately, if you're in a melee space, I will say it's bad for the rules reason. That's all.

Ok then it’s not bad. Cuz no one should care unless it’s a professional scenario.

Well now I feel you're being entitled because you're telling me what I can and can't care about. What's that about?

You just said it’s not bad if you don’t care what other people’s interpretations are. Why do you care what OTHERS say you meant? Sounds insecure

You can say that from your perspective it's not bad, and I can say that from my perspective, it is bad. IN GENERAL though, you can't say that it's not bad (you could say it but you can't make it true). And I can't say that it is bad. Right?

Going all the way back, all I was saying to that original homie was, if you don't want people in the melee space to question you and others based on language, you have to understand the rule and not break it. And then I shared the rule. If you don't care then get questioned.

Going on to tell someone your personal OPINION on the morality of the word, is not “just” explaining the rule. The rule would be, “Don’t say offensive things because the space is for everyone and different people have different beliefs.” What you did is thinly veiled advocacy.

Wow ok so wait: you have no problem with the rule, you just have a problem with the way I worded it? Because you assume that my intent is to push some agenda? I'm trying to figure out what your issue is and I'm suddenly unclear on your position on assuming intent

You’re pretending to argue from a neutral standpoint. You could just say, “I personally think this is immoral. So don’t say it.” Saying you feel bad cuz they don’t know better and are ignorant, just alienates people with a different view from you. That’s not all welcoming.
