You’re not being discriminated against because you weren’t born looking like certain cartoon characters. If you don’t want white people to take all the black characters, then just do what works best instead of being insecure cuz you’ll never accurately portray a diff race.

Wait, but this tweet is referencing a nezuko cosplayer who had gone private cause she was bullied for not being the right skin color Tough skin or not, people do discriminate based on skin color with cosplays I've gotten some shit myself for it, although I don't really care

They got support from funimation and just about every major cosplayer and decided to focus on a little negativity. You can support people of different skin color cosplaying, but don’t deny the reality that it’ll look off. If people feel like calling it out that’s valid as well

Doesn’t make them racist for not liking a certain portrayal if said portrayal is objectively inaccurate

Yeah, but then they won't say shit about a white person cosplaying a black character, and that happens often LOL

No, I mean the same people who will talk about a black person cosplaying a white character being inaccurate won't say shit about a white person cosplaying a black character I personally think both is fine, and I don't really have huge standards for cosplay

I think that’s a false observation cuz you’re just making a broad generalization with no reference

Def not a false observation, my reference is a person at the convention I went to where a black person cosplayed as azusa, and these two were talking about how it didn't look good due to her skin color (I was eating pizza alone on Sunday since my girlfriend left early)

Ah so anecdotal. That’s not reliable precedent for an entire population or fandom. Anyone can find isolated situations but the issue doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

It's anecdotal, but it's enough to say that it does happen Just not to the scale as most people would like others to believe
