Translation: “Using a past name of a trans person because they did something wrong, means that you base doing insulting things on how much you like people.” This was an obvious statement, but it’s flavored with buzzwords.https://twitter.com/lean_973/status/1194669140428152837 …

I get what you're saying but what are you talking about buzzwords? Besides "conditional" those are all words that aren't sensationalizing or over dramatizing it

“Trans identity” and “respect” have been used so often that frequently the two creates an apparently coherent argument. What he’s saying is that if deadnaming occurs, it’s a state of absolute fact that it is because of X. I pointed out that it’s improbable it’s the only reason.

He said "If you deadname someone, even if they're being an ass, you're a transphobic dick." You said "If a trans person is being an ass, then you shouldn't be surprised if somebody is a (transphobic) dick in response!" It's the same thing, just in a way that tries to justify it.

That's definitely not what he said, he said "if someone deadnames someone else, being transphobic is either not or not the only intent they have, as there can be multiple reasons why they do so" Mind you, it's still transphobic as fuck

It's transphobic behavior, he's trying to wrap it into a "normal" paradigm of people being dicks to each other to try and erase the original point that, no matter your intent or the context, if you deadname people like that, it is transphobic. So we can agree on the last part.

No, he's not trying to erase that, he's actually saying that No matter the intent or context, it's transphobic, but intent or context in a situation should always be looked at instead of labeling someone's only reason to be transphobic to someone because they're transphobic

If the action is transphobic, what benefit does a tweet like that serve other than to muddy the waters and help bolster a defense for transphobic actions because "They didn't MEAN to be transphobic! They were just trying to be a regular-old non-transphobic asshole!"

One has to question why he would read that tweet and feel the need to publically respond in a way that only benefits the transphobe in the hypothetical scenario.

It benefits critical thinkers that don’t believe for every action there is one explanation.
