No it isn't semantics. They're fully separate legal systems with different laws and and separate judges which aren't compatible as two are common law and one is civil law.
I didn’t say there wasn’t separate law. The sentence says “people have been jailed [Redacted to Arrested] for jokes in the UK.” Is that not in the UK?

It's completely misleading to the point where it's pretty much untrue. If someone was arrested under another states law which is different from yours you wouldn't say under American law would you?
