It's misleading to say that Canada currently criminalizes misgendering when several landmark cases would have to occur before we even got to that point. This case more generally speaks more to giving dependents more autonomy than anything involving free speech.
It’s a link to a bigger problem. If you can’t even decide what gender your 14yr old is until they’re mature enough to make a life altering decision, then how can we really sit by and say that disagreeing with gender identity doesn’t get penalized? That’s disingenuous

"Disagreeing with gender identity" and "Disagreeing with gender identity and doing something about it" Are two different things tho. And, at least according to what you linked me, only the latter is truly penalized. Free speech is still present
