Lol Strawman, The amendment made to the Canadian Human Rights Act just prevents you from discriminating against somone based on grounds of their gender expression (denying work, benefits, etc) thats not "criminalizing misgendering" as much as criminalizing direct discrimination

You’re not even using straw man correctly. That is the literal law. If you misgender, you could be penalized by the law. That doesn’t exist here. Period

I mean. It does kinda prove his point. It just demonstrates that gender identity is just a legally protectable class similar to race. Says nothing about criminalizing misgendering, and proves Technicals statement a strawman

Read the article The trial only handled the legal implications of whether a parent can deny their child medical treatment for transitions. The article went into a tangent about how this ruling "could" lead to misgendering constituting emotional abuse, but it isn't there yet.

It's misleading to say that Canada currently criminalizes misgendering when several landmark cases would have to occur before we even got to that point. This case more generally speaks more to giving dependents more autonomy than anything involving free speech.
