The bar for security researchers is getting crazy — you now need to have serious graphic design/Photoshop/Illustrator skills in addition to heap exploitation/packet injection/reversing in order to get taken seriously:

This was bound to happen once all the Dem presidential candidates found out that DNA tests really do disprove lies about your ancestry

Most Facebook users continue to get value from the platform, i.e. they use it to interact with people every day. DNA kits are one and done. Most customers aren't going back to revisit their health + ancestry reports.

Due to market saturation or consumer privacy concerns?

It's interesting to me that privacy fears seem to have impacted the core businesses of companies like Ancestry and 23andMe far more than they did to Facebook, despite the fact that there have been far more scandals involving the latter.

What a strange take on mobility data in the NY Times. It's hard to see how MDS data from micromobility trips is "key to solving congestion"-- which is caused by autos, not e-scooters. Data alone can't fix cities' policy problems.

I have mixed feelings about this. It’s great that this is now possible. But higher Mac app prices have helped many developers of one-time purchase apps to generate enough revenue to stay in business. This might become harder now.
