I absolutely agree. The word "mainframe" does NOT mean out of date on its own. Mainframes today are still in demand and serve important use cases.

The main takeaway from the NOTAM outage is that the word 'mainframe' gets a bad rap with everyone leaping to blame mainframes for poor system development.
Vendors such as @BMCSoftware, @BroadcomMSD and @IBMZ and many others have solutions to keep mainframe code modern.

Someone may want to inform @AP’s @tkrisher or @airlinewriter that a mainframe had nothing to do with the NOTAM outage.
NOTAM runs on old Sun SPARC systems running Solaris.
Important to not confuse “older” system as “bad” and “newer” system as “good.”
