        Only after Sun forced MS to stop developing their customized JVM. For a while, MS went for an embrace, extend(, extinguish?) line for Java as well.

        To be fair, they were right! The internet did make the OS much less important, otherwise iOS, Android and ChromeOS wouldn’t fly as they do. But it really took two decades…
