the bell feature’s functionality is confusing or unknown by most. the feature is essentially replacing the functionality of the subscribe feature, which has been understood for over a decade. now creators are bearing the burden of communicating the bell feature to their audiences
-
creators are now forced to detract from their own content to communicate a new, confusing feature in order have their active and engaged audience notified of new content they’ve already subscribed to see.

Options are good, hidden options are not. When someone hits subscribe, you should make them aware and let them choose "always, sometimes or never" rather than default to one option, not tell them and put the onus on creators to inform people.

Exactly. There's no reason they can't prompt people with a pop up that says exactly what the bell says when they hit subscribe. It's just adding an unnecessary barrier that most users aren't aware of in the first place.

See the way I understood it was somebody click subscribe to see what that person is uploading If they don't want to be bothered, they wouldn't have hit subscribe in the first place

On YT, a sub doesn't mean what it does for most other mediums, like a magazine. It's the "follow" option like on Twitter or Twitch. People only choose to follow so they get NOTIFIED. Why make this so complicated? Default: Sub = ALL Notifications. They can manually turn them off

More options my ass. What's wrong with you? Did Susan, your CEO, threw coconuts on your heads before you started making these changes? The bell made gaining views and subscriptions more complicated than it should be. On Twitter, all you had to do was click "Follow" and that's it.
