I love YouTube and when the notification system was first introduced I was told it was a chance for subs to see "every video you upload" I supported or then. But why break this system too? Why let it be only a "if we think the video is good enough" system as well?

but why not make a pop up each time you sub to someone, asking you what options you want? Much better than a small bell.

We've actually experimented with something similar and definitely interested in finding more ways to do this!

Earth to YouTube, if somebody subscribes to a channel they want to see their videos, this isn't rocket science

"Subscribing" means I want to be notified of the content. That's like subscribing to a magazine and never receiving any magazines in the mail because I didn't ALSO phone them up and tell them I wanted to receive the magazine. It's just needlessly convoluted.

What signifies "occasional" though? Every other video, 1 in 5, once a week? I sub to a lot of people and without notifications I can easily forget someone even exists at times.

All videos should seriously be the default if it was the default then yeah the "Only videos deemed important" option would just be a great extra feature
