Too bad the “bell icon” is algorithmically handled. Verified by 2 different YouTube reps I talked to. So no, not even pressing the bell icon is a guarantee anymore.https://twitter.com/teamyoutube/status/977335508434010112 …

What a strange option. You either want notifications or you don’t. Why convolute and confuse? I was on a call where two reps argued with each other about whether it was or wasn’t algo handled so I’m hesitant to believe this. Especially when notifications rarely send out.
-
Furthermore, you could prove this by showing “notifications sent” and “notifications delivered” Otherwise this variance in notification views could be that you’re not actually sending them. Not to mention the wild variance in the sub feed.pic.twitter.com/KfeUG189QO

I don’t understand why you would have an option for “occasional.” theyre already subscribed and now pressing a thing to get more notifs. Why wouldn’t it be all notifs by default? That makes zero sense.
-
It provides more options! Someone might want to see all videos in their subs feed, but not get notified about every upload from every single subscription (especially if they have A LOT). The bell gives channel-level options: receive none, occasional, or all notifications.

Hmm everyone should see the option to choose "all notifications" for a specific channel, please let us know where you're looking if you see something different on your end!

Very clearly created by an engineer and not someone who actually uses the platform for its intended purpose.

It’s shouldn’t be confusing though It should be “you sub to someone, you get their videos in your sub box” Put as many algorithms and whatever on trending, homepage and suggested, but messing with the sub is completely oxymoronic to what a sub box should be
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Why is the default “occasional”? That makes absolutely no sense. If someone clicks the bell, they want to be notified. It should be defaulted to all. Then they should be able to change it to occasional. These illogical decisions YT makes are frustrating to viewers and creators.
