When a person hits that subscribe button they are saying, I want this person's content... not I want you @Youtube to decide what portion of content I get.... C'mon guys, to subscribe is an action, which means that sub is saying, give me this content

Multi billion dollars company and you can't really think about the solution? LOL. Just make it THE OTHER WAY AROUND. When you subscribe, the Bell is ACTIVATED by default. If you don't want notifications, you can deactivate them. Not that hard man. And you'd solve this problem.

Is the act of subscribing not a choice, though? If someone didn't want to see a certain person's content surely they'd just unsubscribe?
-
Furthermore, if the point is to not spam people with notifications, why then do I get so many "RECOMMENDED" notifications for channels I'm not even subscribed to? Kinda spits in the face of that whole concept, doesn't it?

Well
@TeamYouTube here's the actual problem. Bell icon is not working for everyone who wants it. I do not get notifications for some channels like@markiplier@Its_TeamEdge etc I've to always check myself. And you have Unsubscribed me automatically for like 3 times in few months -
@YouTube use to be such a great experience before. I dont know what happened since 2017 everything is always broken. If you disable comments all likes and views gets frozen there is always monetization problems even after you apply for manual reviews. It makes me not wanna upload - 2 more replies

Why not let every YouTube user be responsible for who they’re subbed to and put the burden of accumulated notifications on them? If they see someone’s posted a video and they don’t like their content, they can unsub or change the settings on their phone. It shouldn’t affect YTers

As a subscriber, I agree with Fridu! If people are upset about how many notifications they get, let them edit their own settings!
