As COVID-19 evolves, we’re doing our best to support those who watch, create, & make a living on YouTube. Many of us here & in our extended workforce are unable to work as usual, so we’re reducing staffing in certain offices, causing some disruptions →https://yt.be/help/djUN

Lots of questions on this thread – we’ve rounded up answers in the video below including “Why can’t video reviewers work from home?” & “Why are you being stricter about video removals?“. Recommended watching all the way through →https://yt.be/HrbG

If your recent video/stream isn’t showing up in search, Up next, the homepage, etc, it’s likely due to COVID-19’s impact on our teams & extended workforce – Content may not show in search, etc. until a reviewer takes a look, & w/ fewer reviewers available, this is taking longer.

This tweet sounds ominous. To be at the mercy of a system that you admit does not work. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you’re letting staff stay home and isolate to keep them safe but this will scare a lot of people.

(1/2) Didn't mean to sound ominous, but wanted to be as transparent as possible–our systems were built to use people & technology together. W/ fewer ppl available, if the system is unsure whether a video is violative, it can’t pull in a reviewer to confirm (as it normally would).

Perhaps you need to improve the automated system then. You are straight up acknowledging that it does not work and will flag content that breaches no rules
-
Our systems were built to use people & technology together – typically, if the system isn’t sure whether a video is violative, it pulls in a reviewer to confirm. As we prioritize the health of our reviewers, the system will now need to remove some content w/o this human review.

Why can't those people work from home?
-
As many teams as possible are working remotely, but it’s difficult for some people to work from home if their work is sensitive or requires special systems. We know this is tough, but we appreciate your understanding while we work to support the health & safety of these teams.

Or... OR! Considering reviewing content is a desk job, have your reviewers work from home remotely and NOT punish people who have done nothing wrong.
-
As many of us as possible are working remotely if they can, but many teams (including reviewers) have to physically plug into special systems to do their jobs. Keeping everyone safe/healthy is our #1 priority while we're work on solutions in the background as quickly as we can.
