Starting today, scripted or simulated violence in video games will be treated the same as violence in other scripted content like movies & TV. This means future gaming uploads w/ scripted or simulated violence may get approved instead of age-restricted → yt.be/help/AjhC

We're differentiating between real world violence & simulated/scripted violence in video games (which we're now treating more like the simulated/scripted violence in TV & movies). Let us know if this distinction makes sense!

For people confused Before: video games with violent content could get age restricted After: video games with violent content will not get age restricted (except for cases where it's the primary focus, like "top 10 most brutal deaths in [game]")

One thing to add here: We may still age-restrict fictional violence if it’s particularly graphic (hate to need examples, but this might include fictional videos of people being dismembered/decapitated, or human corpses w/ these severe injuries). More info: yt.be/help/hp8b

R.I.P. YouTube this is ridiculous. Lots of careers are based on playing games like COD etc, you could ruin so many careers by age restricting videos with violence in video games
