The new @YouTube app on my bluray player is laggy as hell, going through my subscriptions it will freeze at random and stop responding to the remote, whats worse it will "conveniently" not respond to the remote for skip ad. No remote works fully, no issues with netflix or BD.
Hmm, have you tried restarting the app or your device? Also, if you’re not using the most recent version, you can update the app so you have the latest fixes for any known issues.

Restarted several times, I would assume it is the latest since the look is different and there are more navigation tabs added so takes longer to get to subscribers menu
