Hey @YouTube any solution yet for faulty copyright claims from songs using videogame soundtracks as the base, that according to your own rules are *not* elegible for the Content ID program? Why do we keep getting claims from song covers that they don't even own? Fix it already.pic.twitter.com/GbNRrmrPOw

You can read all the elegible content for Content ID here - https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2605065 … As you can see, "rap freestyle with a GoldenEye song background" would ***not*** be elegible, yet apparently it is? Same goes for Perfect Dark remixes. They. Do not. Own. The music.

Sometimes it can be hard to understand why a rights owner has claimed your video, but we're making improvements to how we detect and surface third party content. This is why we created a process for uploaders to dispute claims: https://yt.be/help/LKJN . Hope this helps.

Yes, I know I can dispute them and I always do it; point is, why do they have access to Content ID? Isn't there a manual verification process? It makes no sense someone claims to own a soundtrack of the game just because they slap some free style or remix loops on it.

Like it's not hard to understand it, it's an automated process that the AI detects and fills the claim, it's explained in your Content ID guidelines too. What is hard to understand is indeed why they have access to it in the first place and why that's not taken care of yet.

They're not the right owners. They should not be able to fill these claims in the first place. I'm not asking how to dispute them or why my videos get claimed, I'm asking why *they* are able to do so.

To clarify – claims can come from publishers who represent the writers of a song as well. Because there’s a set of copyrights to protect the work of these writers (i.e. the lyrics/melody of the song) you may receive a claim if you use the melody/lyrics: https://yt.be/help/claims-FAQ

And I'm saying they do not come from publishers nor writers. It's the videogame soundtrack being claimed by someone who "made" a song using it as a base slapping some freestyle and remix loops. This, according to your guidelines, is not elegible for Content ID.

He's right, @TeamYouTube. Some little known artist using a video game soundtrack as the backbeat for a rap song they upload on their channel, and a bot flags other channels playing the video game. The artist does not own those rights, period. It happens daily, and it's wrong!
