I have a concern with the new rules for YouTube “kids content.” You say videos with an emphasis on kids characters, themes, toys, and games will be targeted. What are these? Surely you realize that the fan bases for these things are not only kids?

It’s more about individual video content & its target audience, rather than a video’s general category (e.g. gaming or cartoons). This is why, in addition to our systems, creators will self designate their content as made for kids. More specific examples: https://yt.be/help/pE5Q

Thank you for your prompt response. So, for example, if one was to make a video for adult fans of the cartoon show Adventure Time, they could self designate the video as being for an older age range?

There will be an option to mark your entire channel as made for kids (if that’s the case) but if that doesn’t apply to you, you should evaluate and self-designate on a video-by-video basis – some examples: https://yt.be/help/pE5Q . We’ll have more resources in the coming months.
