It should be easy to know when you’ve found the official YouTube channel of a creator, artist, brand, or public figure. So in late October, we’re updating what it means for channels to be “Verified” w/ new eligibility criteria & a new look. Details → https://yt.be/help/3QfB pic.twitter.com/JXOvMbkbns

This really just seems like a shift to put more main stream media on trending and front page for longer periods of time and bury the handful of creators i would actually want to find and watch on YouTube

Prop up CNN, BBC, Fox and other mainstream outlets, while pushing down independent creators. You know, help the people who wanted YouTube gone while putting down those who helped it become what it is.

just stop justifying this move. It's a slap in a face to all creators that have been verified, we see those little pixels as an accomplishment that's getting repoed.

In the meantime the lack of that simple check mark in any other channels now means imposter can easily pose as original creator by simple name alone. Since outside their own channel your providing nothing to show it IS that verified person commenting.

Say if
@Barnacules commented on my video I want to know it's actually him. Not an imposter. Check mark did that on my video for HIS comment. Now unless I click thru to his channel from my video, no easy way to know. No grey box when verified comments elsewhere makes a mute effort

But what if you're commenting on the impersonator's video?

Has anyone ever seen a grey highlighter before? Probably a reason for that.
