It should be easy to know when you’ve found the official YouTube channel of a creator, artist, brand, or public figure. So in late October, we’re updating what it means for channels to be “Verified” w/ new eligibility criteria & a new look. Details → https://yt.be/help/3QfB pic.twitter.com/JXOvMbkbns

There will likely be a lot more scamming/impersonation in the comment sections across all channels, this was a good means to hinder that, seems kind of stupid

This should actually help as the new design is more difficult to replicate than the checkmark. Also, creators commenting on their own videos will still have their name highlighted, so you can easily see when it's the official creator–that feature is separate & isn't going away.

Do to be verified you have to be impersonated? Seems a bit ass-backwardspic.twitter.com/7Y0tIJOZNo

Someone should start a service to counterplay this, “For $20 I’ll pretend to be you that way YouTube treats you like a human”

Same, doesn't seem like you need to know what you're doing to get the job

Then why remove verification from creators with huge communities. Seems more like you cast a blanket statement that negatively effects many just to fix it later for no real good reason.
