@YouTube Videos on my iOS app has been automatically displaying english captions during playback. I didn't select for captions at all. Is this something the creators of the video did on their own? Is there a way to turn off captions without doing it to every single video I watch?

You're right that some Creators do add in captions for their viewers. But to resolve your issue, here’s a way for you to manage your caption settings: https://yt.be/help/BfJw . Hope this helps!

What if I am on the iOS app? The settings menu doesn’t have the playback option.

Just to clarify, have you tried using a different device to see if there's a difference? Note: captions are available on videos where the owner has added them and on some videos where YouTube automatically provides them.

I too, have had this issue via Android os. Caption settings are toggled off. I've used the app and gone to YouTube site via a browser and same issue persists.

That's weird. Can you share more details in a feedback report using these steps: https://yt.be/help/feedback ? That helps us identify and fix widespread issues. Make sure you're logged into the account experiencing the issue when you send it in.
