Today we’re sharing several changes designed to better protect data on children’s content on YouTube. Starting in about four months:

How would the system identify a video such as a Minecraft Let's Play episode that contains no swearing? It can be enjoyed by teens / adults, but it's popular amongst kids. Would it be flagged as a video for kids? Would comments / notifications be turned off?

Machine learning technology will help identify made for kids content, as defined by the FTC (see D1 of their FAQs for more: https://ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/complying-coppa-frequently-asked-questions …). Since creators know their videos & target audience best, they’ll also be required to self designate videos as made for kids.

So basically it will effect all gamers and most content creators who use mediums such as LEGO or other "children's toys," but aimed at adults. Thats nice. Looking at the COPPA Law, I guess Article 13 has existed here in the U.S. and we didnt even know it. For the children!
