@TeamYouTube I can't figure out why this is happening. Phone is an Alcatel 3v and with it on the android YouTube app; any quality that has 60fps at the end (720p60fps, etc) has frame drops constantly and this only happens on the YouTube app... Watching on chrome works fine
Thanks for reaching out. Could you try uninstalling the app updates > restarting the device > updating the app to see if that makes a difference? Keep us posted.

I did all that earlier (people on the internet had the issue too and did clearing the cache, Uninstalling updates, GPU forced rendering, etc. Some fixed it for others but for me the issue still persists) also tested using an alternative YouTube client.

The alternative YouTube client never once had the issue so it seems to be an official YouTube app problem. 1080p60fps works on alternative client, just wish I could just use the YouTube app to watch stuff with no issues.

That moment when you figure out WHY it's happening. Turns out YouTube was set to optimise battery use on android 8.0.0 and turning this off fixed it. Now I don't crazy drop frames when high motion 60fps is involved

Nvmd. It's still happening but it's less now. Seems to drop frames if viewing in portrait mode (with comments and stuff showing) or in landscape with video player controls showing.
