Why is it that I can exit the @YouTube app just to respond to a text and what I was watching will be GONE...but, the time when I leave a video and haven’t been in it for hours, the video is still there to play from where I was???? Makes no sense to me @TeamYouTube

We'd like to look into it. Is it happening on an Android device or an IOS? Let us know.

Thanks for the info. Could you try uninstalling the app, restarting your device and reinstalling it to see if that makes a difference? Also, if your watch history is turned on, the video will continue to play from where you've left off. Hope this helps clarifies.

Yep, I’ve done that and that does nothing. I shouldn’t have to go into watch history every time I re-enter the app it seems a little ridiculous when it should really just open immediately back to the video it’s on when I leave the app.

Thanks for trying all those steps. Just to confirm, is your watch history turned on? Keep us posted.

Yes, it’s on. What I mean by videos not showing up is that when I open the app, it’s not in the same spot as where it was prior to switching apps. I don’t quit the app, I just change to another and once I reopen the YouTube app, the previous location is no longer there.
