: Custom thumbnail images must follow our Community Guidelines. A thumbnail that egregiously violates policies (e.g. pornography, graphic violence) will result in thumbnail removal.

will this also affect videos from a long time ago where this rule didnt exist? because if so then you might want to warn content creators of which videos to fix so they dont get a strike for no reason...

Good question! So that everyone has time to get familiar with this, content that was posted prior to these enforcement updates may be removed, but will not receive a strike.

When the videos get removed, will the uploader get a notification for it? so they know what happened?

If the video does not violate our policies, then only the link will be removed and the video will remain on YouTube. You will receive an email notification with the option to appeal the link removal.
