@TeamYouTube when will bitrates higher than 128k (audio tag 140) be supported in the YouTube app or YouTube music app for music videos? With this restriction in place, it's hard to enjoy music videos or any premium content on mobile. The web site supports the higher bitrate.

Here to help! Youtube Music Premium members can select the bitrate at which music is streamed and downloaded. Here's how: In the Youtube Music app, tap on your profile picture > Select Settings > Tap Downloads > Tap Audio quality > Select your download quality as required.

I know that, that's only for the songs, it does nothing for the music videos or original content. Those still show as 140 in the apps while on the web it shows as 141, 251 or 258 as they should.

Thanks for sharing the info. Have you checked if there are any pending app updates available? Also, try switching networks to see if that makes a difference. Keep us posted.

All my YouTube apps are up to date and am on wifi. Still audio tag 140 in the apps. Try this video in the apps then on the web https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5kM5wAwRug … in the apps it's audio 140 but on the web it's the proper 251 (thus resulting in better sound quality).
