.@TeamYouTube Please fix notifications, I’m not getting the majority that I should for channels I have them enabled on. It’s also evident that my subscribers are not receiving notifications either.

Check your bell settings for that channel and see if you've opted-in to receive all notifications? You may be on the default setting, which is to receive notifications occasionally. Here's a guide to help check that plus your app and device level settings: https://goo.gl/giVA8o

why is receiving "occasional notifications" even a thing, let alone the default option?

In the past, some viewers were frustrated with how many notifications they received. We added the bell a while back for proactive notifications to gives viewers a choice. Hope this clarifies!

But now people are complaining that they’re either getting very delayed notifications or none at all. Why make this default? At least let users choose if they want notifications or not from the get go.

To clarify, it"s not a default option. Views can choose what type of notification they want to choose from the channel by clicking the bell. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the confusion earlier. Occasional notifications are default settings keeping in mind that not all viewers want to receive each an every notification from a channel and if otherwise they can make changes by tapping the bell. Hope this clarifies!
