It's not a malfunction. The link to the livestream is intentional (Obama giving a speech somewhere). Some idiot designed a custom graphic that transforms from the normal YouTube logo into the logo for this event that's being livestreamed. But it does so infrequently.
So, even a person who understands the difference can easily accidentally click through to something they weren't expecting, because the logo appeared normal when they looked at it. When you've done things like this in the past, the logo has been more obviously altered.
