Sharing answers to top q's we’re seeing about the thumbnail experiment: – Custom thumbs aren't going away – 99.7% still see the creator's custom thumbnail – A lot of creators use auto-generated thumbnails, this test helps improve them for those using them: https://goo.gl/A7oDmr

Apart from you're just going to use that to censor and shit on smaller channels anyway, which is all you've been doing these past 6 months. We all know we were thinking the same thing.

Whoa, that’s a Truth Nuke right there.

Then Why dont you have this test on creators that use mainly non custom thumbnails instead of the channels that do?

Then set up an opt-in system for people to use when they want to use it. Don't set up an unannounced experiment that erases work done by creators for a certain percentage of viewers. It doesn't matter how small that percentage is; people should have a choice.

I believe you that this is a huge request but why run your experiment on channels that create their own custom thumbnails? This is a very simple thing to check for. Even better, why not experiment with the people who are putting in the requests?

Okay, but why not restrict it to just those creators? The only response you're seeing is a negative one, because the people this will affect (the ones with auto-gen) don't know it's happening. Put a banner on auto-gen videos letting them know. And let it be an opt-in test.
