Yep. I was trying to explain this to a friend. Entropy: as poverty goes on, more and more things fall apart and can't be fixed or replaced until eventually you can no longer afford a runnong car, so you can't get to work, so you continue to get poorer. Everything spirals.

Not only is poverty expensive, it's time-consuming. I had a job: 2 hours on bus to job. 4 hrs at work. Don't leave late! Barely make it to the bus stop to catch the last bus home. 2 hours home. 8 hours day. 4 spent riding a bus. It wasn't cheap either, about $4 every day.

Thanks for your stories and kind words. For those interested, I wrote a song explaining the economy ("Mama Economy" -- also on Spotify/Itunes etc.) https://youtu.be/37eqoYbj1QM . I'm also launching a podcast soon with a focus on social media --

Not to mention groceries are more expensive for the poor. Pay way more per unit when you can’t buy in bulk. Plus it’s hard to buy bulk when relying on public transportation. I want to see someone start grocery co-ops where those who are struggling can benefit from bulk pricing.

I wonder if Amazon has had an impact on lower income households in regards to shopping in bulk?

Perhaps there should be a path out of poverty, Like employment training programs that really work. Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage.
-
When does someone working 3 crap jobs to make rent have time for job training? It’s a good idea but it isn’t always an option when shelter and food are barely achievable. The training must come with support so the people have the time to take the training and find better jobs.

Not to mention; low credit score = higher interest on loans
-
I know! Why the hell should I pay more interests just because I haven't bought anything with credit?

"If a man's got an apartment stacked to the ceiling with newspapers, or a woman has a house full of cats we call them crazy. But when people pathologically hoard so much cash they impoverish an entire nation, we put them on the cover of magazines & pretend they're role models."pic.twitter.com/G6SwD4DVPY
