Thank you for standing up for this woman and her rights.

We must. There is no choice. I met her a month prior. She is from Burma. Living in SF for 20 years. Lost her job recently, became unhoused, and is down on her luck. Shelter waiting list is 1100+. We got the things back, but the next police attack is around the corner.

Curious if you've done anything to help this person while you've known they lived there so close to your house.

Great question. Yes. I met the woman a month before when they started staying their. I told her my name, that I'm a neighbor in the area just like she is, and offered her water. I asked her how I can help. I asked her if she had access to housing resources, etc....

Thanks for sharing. The city uses the 311 app, which has features to report "Encampments", to encourage ratting out homeless people. In this case, someone uploaded a photo of tents here and the city responded hours later with the "work performed" (stolen belongings) Messed up.pic.twitter.com/ZGh549dtqM

Wow I’m just imagining how great it would be to get that kind of response to a car parked on the sidewalk. You know, like, an actual hazard, as opposed to “I don’t want to see homeless people, steal their stuff please.”

Do we know how much of this stuff is hers? Regardless, letting her live on the street I would argue is less humane? Is your recommendation to just let her rot out there? What is your solution? Let’s focus on the bigger issue at hand, helping people get OFF the streets first
-
Agreed. Everyone just screams give them homes without wanting to solve the problem why they always end up back in street. As if their parents families didn’t try for years to help them but couldn’t.
