I think a lot of brand new IP’s could benefit from it. Build a solid player base from people who might not normally purchase day 1. Then release dlc to pull in more revenue from that established player base. Ultimately leading to a release of a “part 2” that won’t need GamePass.

I agree on all those points but it’s not consequence free. Games are expensive to buy because they’re expensive to make - inflation is rising as is the cost of dev. So if people don’t buy games because they’re too expensive then the investment will go down. Worth considering.

Not every gamer can afford to buy every game they are interested in at launch if at all. Sometimes they need to budget themselves out and make a tough choice on which game(s) they want to buy. Worth considering.
