The sonic stages are factually the best & most fun stages in both SA1 & SA2 so by default that makes the Tails (and Shadow in SA2) stages the 2nd most if not just as fun stages. The speed of it all is what most of us like the most from the series so that's not a knock 2 SA1 Tails
If I had to say one thing I hated about Tails missions in SA1; I felt they didn't properly utilize the character. I think they should have made them platforming stages that catered to the character’s abilities. Missed opp

That's debatable. The Tails stages were all/mostly about keeping up w/ Sonic (which is literally Tails' while thing) in the story he's following Sonic. So it only made sense his stages 4 the most part were the same w/ the flight rings that did take his ability in2 consideration

It was either that or they add a difficulty curve. His missions were way too easy. Same with Big the Cat’s like it would've been nice to maybe explore more parts of the levels Sonic couldn't reach if you weren't racing towards the end of the goal
