Shockingly, both consoles have a rather healthy library of games available on day one. Even if we don't count backward compatible stuff or services like Game Pass and PS+ collection.

For the last twl months, I’ve been keeping tabs on every game coming to launch day for both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5. While also looking at the launch window for the first year of both consoles.

This will be an evergreen article and I will be updating it over the next several months as more games trickle in and more games get announced for the hardware with a projected to launch within the first year of each console’s launch.

The goal of the project was to help early adopters of either (or both) console’s and give them an idea of what they can expect to play not only at launch but what to look forward to in the first year of each console’s lifespan. I hope this helps some peeps!

Because the new consoles are launching with cross-gen titles and, for the first time, will support older games through backward compat and full next-gen optimization. You won’t only be playing “new releases” only.
