As someone who has a PS5 preorder I can tell you right now that this is a compelling argument. I mean, think about it most of the hottest titles are going to be cross-gen, and it'll likely be that way at least for the next year.

Also, full disclosure: I have NEVER purchased a console at launch. The PS5 is my first, but only because the Demon Souls remake really caught my eye.

I'm still unsure if I really want to get Series X at launch or if I even want to try. The only I really wanted to play on it was pushed back, so I'm not really seeing a reason for me to buy one.

The fact that price/date/pre-orders have been the sole narrative around next gen — instead of need-to-have features & user experience — is a bummer. There’s so little sense of what next gen even looks or feels like, but rather that it’s more expensive and hard to reach.
