If $70 becomes the standard for next-gen games I'm sure even the folks against the hike will accept it. No way people are going to pass on new games because they're $10 more.
I wouldn't be surprised if this also was a factor in the increase in users subscribing to game subscription services like Xbox Game Pass or PS Now as well

Also raises other debates for several things - such as games (more so single-player) full-priced games with Microtransactions as well as setting a ”standard” for how long a $70 game should last
