My mom still has our old desktop that was formerly our family computer. I really want to pull it apart and replace all the parts and turn it into an undercover gaming mega-machine. It would be an excellent 2020 project. Thoughts?

If it's a brand-name computer, chances are that the case won't accommodate modern motherboards. Even if not, a nice new case is $50 and a nice new PSU maybe $40. Best to start fresh. Can re-use storage drives if nec.

Even so, you'd have to really love the case and the PSU would have to be pretty decent capacity (650W - 850W) to make it worth turning, rather than doing a new build from scratch.
