(2/???) A “remake” according to Merriam-Webster means “to make anew or in a different form” The way I see it Resident Evil 2 breaks the wheel of GOTY not going to games that are not “new” games per se.

(4/?) Games like Resident Evil Remake for the GameCube don’t constitute as a true Remake in my eyes as that game felt more like the equivalent of a over glorified HD remaster. Don’t get me wrong, it introduced a ton of new features not int be original.

(5/?) Games like Shadow of the Colossus (2018) don’t count as well - because the that game was not a true Remake at least in the realm of what a Remake is in true definition. Which brings me to what Resident Evil 2 does to break the wheel.

(6/?) Unlike the previous two aforementioned games which have been deemed “remakes” neither felt like they did enough to redefine the gameplay mechanics and provide a whole new way to experience those beloved titles.

(7/?) Residnet Evil 2 not only provides a new gameplay perspective switching to the third person perspective from the tank controls (which in my opinion is great given how archaic that type of gameplay perspective is)

(8/?) RE2 Remake is a true Remake because it provides a new gameplay perspective, an overhaul on graphics, character models, voice acting, Hell even the story has changed nothing too major but just enough for even OG fans to notice

(9/?) Capcom created a new way to experience the Raccoon City outbreak. It’s so different yet so similar that it’s a successfully executed what remakes set out to do - experience an already beloved title in a new way that stays true to the original source.

@REsi_Lover Again, I’ve never used remakes or remasters before in my GOTY or even too 10 games of that year but to me Resident Evil 2 broke the wheel and actually is a true Remake deserving of as a GOTY contenderAfficher cette discussion

Promise I'll read the rest. I agree with remasters. I was having the same argument with someone about Kingdom Hearts 2.5HD. They are PS2 games, even Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix despite it being our first experience through it. It's still a 2007 game, just on PS4. (1/x)

But REMAKES, they still qualify even if they are lazy. Not saying it's lazy, or it's my GOTY but CRT Nitro-Fueled CAN qualify as GOTY. While it essentially a prettier CRT with Nitro Kart maps, the whole repackage of it still makes it a new experience to me. (2/x)
