    Throughout the night at least 10 women and girls were checking their flight status for this mornings departure... Wondering if the sudden cold weather would delay them. Their time off work already scheduled. Their childcare arranged.

    Disabled women (especially learning disabled) often infantilised. Sex education often inadequate or absent. Poor understanding of capacity means disabled women aren't given tools to navigate relationships, opportunity, choice or autonomy

    UK gov's abysmal response to the just condemnation from the CEDAW committee (regarding Northern Ireland's treatment of pregnant women).

    To sum up the UK response - abortion is also difficult to access in other countries, which could be interpreted as 'count yourselves lucky at least we are offering abortion services' it could by MUCH worse. Nice bit of colonial / paternal undertone there.

    He sounds like a Catholic I can get behind.

    The leader of the Catholic Church on the Isle of Man criticises extreme anti-abortion protesters AND states the church "wishes to be supportive of those who find themselves contemplating an abortion WHATEVER decision they take" (my emphasis)

    Every judge, every solicitor, every law clerk needs mandatory training from & If this man had done this to a stranger he would have felt the full force of the law. Because it was intimate partner violence does NOT MAKE IT ANY LESS TRAUMATIC FOR THE VICTIM

    I see so much of this offensive & ableist language on Twitter (and sadly irl too).

    *CW ableist language* People casually use words like retard, moron, spa, dotard - not realising how desperately harmful & oppressive it is to people with ID. PWID are not children, not lesser humans, but are often denied rights as if they were.

    Oh, Tara. 29 when you died with injuries on ‘every part’ of your body. Your partner had been arrested for violence against other women- never convicted; police knew of his violence to you- he was still free. He wouldn’t let your kids downstairs, or you upstairs.
