I’ve said repeatedly that the #metooMVMT is for all of us, including these brave young men who are now coming forward. It will continue to be jarring when we hear the names of some of our faves connected to sexual violence unless we shift from talking about individuals [+]

A shift can happen. This movement is making space for possibility. But, it can only happen after we crack open the whole can of worms and get really comfortable with the uncomfortable reality that there is no one way to be a perpetrator.

...and there is no model survivor. We are imperfectly human and we all have to be accountable for our individual behavior.

People will use these recent news stories to try and discredit this movement - don’t let that happen. This is what Movement is about. It’s not a spectator sport. It is people generated. We get to say “this is/isn’t what this movement is about!”

I agree with everything but the crime & punishment part. Sexual assault is a crime because it is sexualized violence. Crimes must be prosecuted, & criminals must face consequences or no one will be safe.

I agreed w/all that U said except for 1 thing. Up til now, it HAS been abt crime & punishment, just as much as harm & harm reduction. IDK your motive behind that tweet but, it's funny that it comes when a woman is accused. We need that SAME ENERGY ppl had when it wz only bad men.

My question is why did you have to wait for one of the
#metoo
spokespeople to be accused of sexually assaulting a male minor in order to make this generous tweet supporting equality among genders? How come there wasn’t more of an effort to support both genders before this? -
Damage control, male victims were rarely highlighted and no victims of women were highlighted at all. This is just more disingenuousness

I think that the idea that this is not about punishment would come as a surprise to all the men whose careers and have been turned into wreckage without a trial, how do they heal, especially if they were innocent of wrong doing?
