Read the statement! There isn't a hint that he is changing his mind, an attempt (however insicere & cynical) to explain that circumstances have changed. Pure reality erasure.

Honestly, I've reread this statement multiple times, not trusting my eyes, certain that I must have missed some phrase. But no. In fact, DAines ends this statement calling for an "olderly transition of power" as though he wasn't among the very small group standing in its way!

perhaps montanans are forgetful like that

Howdy. Please don’t bash an entire group of people. It’s unbecoming and unhelpful. Montanans aren’t forgetful. I wrote Senator Daines 2 days ago, asking him, as a MT citizen, to reconsider.

Thanks! Called him with an update to my previous voicemail to thank him for changing his mind and tell him that it’s cowardly to do so without apologizing for his part in inciting today’s events.

He - and other GOPers - are mad because today they felt threatened and afraid when the Capitol was stormed and now they're lashing out at the man responsible for making them feel afraid. Not the outcome Trump was hoping for.
