Each state has different rules and different punishment for crime. But locking criminals up and removing them from society is their punishment and taking away their ability to vote is part of that and a perfectly appropriate punishment for committing crimes against society.

Which ones are crimes against society? Who decides that? If "all of them," how does drug use, for example fit into that label? What makes locking someone entirely away from their society a useful punishment? How can such a person benefit their society when they return?
