One goal of this sheet is to make sure we push against idea that election results are 'secret recipes'. This is all publicly available info, often reported by journalists, & as such should be clearly available to all (not just to people who have their eye on Twitter minutia).

First off: this is cool. Secondly: It brings up more questions for me, mainly, "Why is a precinct with 24 voters getting 5 delegates (BF-PT) and a precinct with 208 voters getting 4 delegates (CR 22)?"

This is probably the most significant immigrant protection bill of Colorado's 2020 legislative session.

I'm usually on the other side but it's really outrageous to blame older, diligent people who handled this for years then got handed a bunch of confusing rules and bad tech by young people!

I'd love to know whether Biden voters seem to have gone as uniformly for the two moderate candidates (when he was not viable) as Klobuchar's (when she was not). Will be interesting to explore in here, esp. once more result added.

if he does not, it'd be in part because a fair number of precincts are seeing unexpected 5-way viabilities that stopped consolidation. e.g. Guthrie: 13 Joe, 13 Pete, 13 Amy, 11 Sanders, 11 Warren

Finally: Yes, the results are a fraction of the state. (Do note,: In some places, e.g. Grinnell or Dallas, we have reported delegate but not vote .) But: (a) AP also reports results as it goes, & things shift. Info all listed here. (2) We don't know what party is releasing.

On any election night, AP reports results separately from what state officials and board elections do, or party officials. We seem to have decided here that IA's party should take the lead, but to extent there's independent info from caucus sites, that can be reported too.

with about 18,000 votes aggregated (with links to sources): Sanders is 1st (and Biden is 5th) in all 3 counts. However (as noted on top) info not evenly distributed; underrepresents rural precincts where Biden/Pete do better.

Everything else (waves broadly) aside, the discipline of this organizer is impressive. She put in incredible work to show respect & empathy & to build a bridge. It doesn't always work but it does work sometimes, and if you are in a position to be able to do it, it's worth trying.

local media is reporting a lot of additional results in Poweshiek (though only the delegate counts), so expect some more updates to the big spreadsheet:

It also was the default way that the media declares winners in that the popular vote count was not available. Also: reminder being ahead in *state* delegates need not mean you'd be ahead in *pledged delegates to the national convention* delegates. That's... another calculation.

I'd also share my article on Ohio's local elections, but that's mostly about how no one filed to run, so it falls more in the "broken" than "high-stakes" category.

hey, the presidential primaries are broken, but it doesn't mean there aren't dozens of other high-stakes elections coming up over the coming week. my list below! and my previews of: IL & TX

Biden or Klobuchar could flip from 4th to 5th in count, depending on which part of the state is more represented in the 50% that the party is planning to report.

Fun thing to think about is that the Iowa caucus results have never been consistent and everyone just let them keep doing it anyway.

One reason the party is having more trouble verifying the consistency of results this year is that it... never had to release the full results & ensure that full consistency before.
