The streets across still have blackout, we don’t have internet (mobile still works). We were still very lucky. Floodings hit the area around me very hard, too (Aachen, Stolberg, Eschweiler, Eifel)... Not affected myself, too. But sadly I am not in the condition to volunteer for helping to clean up.

No matter how often I watch the news and see those pictures... also passing through areas, witnessing the destruction in real life... It’s still so surreal. All those wiped out lives and existences. It’s horrible.

And all this destruction pales in comparison to what only a generation before us witnessed with their own eyes. It's like a bad dream you can't wake up from. I feel that's why many today cannot want not belive what happend 39 to 45 as it just is beyond surreal in its scope.
